Komodo Private Boat Charter | Whole-Boat Hire, Per-Boat Rates

Komodo Private Boat Charter

**A Komodo private boat charter is an exclusive whole-boat hire from Labuan Bajo: you book the entire vessel for your own party — no strangers, no fixed schedule — priced per boat by group-size tier, not per head. The boat, crew, fuel, meals and snorkeling gear are one price; park fees are added per person, cash, in IDR.**

That single distinction — per boat, not per person — is what separates a private charter from a shared day tour. On a shared boat you pay for a seat and share the deck with people you have never met. On a private charter with Komodo Privé, operated by Komodo Luxury (an award-winning Labuan Bajo operator founded in 2015), you buy the whole vessel. Your group of two or eleven gets the same boat, the same crew, and an itinerary you set. All figures below are as of 2026 and subject to change.

What exactly does “whole-boat” mean?

It means the vessel sails for your party only. A honeymooning couple, a family of six, or a group of eleven friends each hires the same boat outright and decides the route, the pace, and how long to linger at Pink Beach. Private charters in Komodo National Park typically carry up to about 15 guests per vessel, sold in group-size tiers — commonly 1-4, 5-8, and 9-11 people — with the per-boat price stepping up as the tier grows because a bigger group needs a bigger boat, more fuel, and more crew.

The boat price on most packages already covers fuel, a licensed crew, meals, drinking water, and snorkeling equipment. What it does not cover — always billed separately — is the per-person park entry, ranger, and sunset fees paid in cash. We explain those in full below so there are no surprises at the jetty.

What does a Komodo private charter cost?

Per-boat pricing is genuinely public. The table below draws on rates published by real Labuan Bajo operators so you can benchmark before you ask us for a firm quote. Prices are per boat for the whole group, as of 2026 and subject to change.

Charter type Group tier Per-boat price (IDR) Approx. USD Source basis
Private 1-day speedboat (small) 1-4 people 7,000,000 – 9,000,000 ~USD 460 – 590 Nerawela Tour & Travel
Private 1-day speedboat (medium) 5-10 people 9,000,000 – 12,000,000 ~USD 590 – 790 Nerawela Tour & Travel
Private 1-day speedboat up to 4 (per group) from ~USD 990 Viator
Private 3D2N Komodo trip 1-4 persons 56,000,000 ~USD 3,478 Green Rinjani
Private 3D2N Komodo trip 5-8 persons 59,500,000 ~USD 3,695 Green Rinjani
Private 3D2N Komodo trip 9-11 persons 68,000,000 ~USD 4,223 Green Rinjani

For wider context, Click&Boat aggregate data puts the average Komodo boat rental at about USD 1,023 per day, ranging from roughly USD 154 to USD 2,478 — high season averages near USD 2,462 per day and low season near USD 230. Motorboat charters there start around USD 700 per day and sailboats run USD 400-3,800 per day, both for up to 15 guests. One Viator traveler review cited a local private fast-boat cost of 8.8 million IDR (about USD 593). Your final Komodo Privé rate depends on vessel class, tier, season, and route — which is exactly why we quote per request rather than post a fixed number.

What’s included, and what is paid separately?

Read this block before you compare quotes. The gap between operators is almost always in the exclusions, not the headline price.

Included in the per-boat charter price (most packages):

  • The whole vessel for your party only — no strangers
  • Fuel and a licensed local crew
  • Meals on board and drinking water
  • Snorkeling gear
  • Custom routing: Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Rinca, Taka Makassar, Manta Point, Kanawa, Kelor, Gili Lawa, Kalong Island

Paid separately, per person, in cash IDR (park-set fees):

  • Komodo National Park entrance and ranger fees, which vary by operator and itinerary
  • Sunset or specific-island fees where they apply

Park charges are set by the Komodo National Park authorities and revised without notice. Per SeekSophie’s January 2026 update, foreigners and KITAS holders pay IDR 250,000 per person for a 1-day trip and IDR 650,000 for a 3D2N trip; Indonesian nationals pay IDR 150,000 and IDR 350,000 respectively. Fees differ by island and activity — diving costs more, weekends cost more than weekdays. As concrete examples: Green Rinjani’s 3D2N excludes a park entrance fee of IDR 650,000 per person plus a tentative Kalong Island sunset fee of IDR 250,000 per person, while Viator’s day trip excludes a park entrance fee of IDR 500,000 per person plus Padar and Komodo ranger fees of IDR 360,000 per booking. No credit cards are accepted at the park — bring enough IDR cash. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site managed by Balai Taman Nasional Komodo under the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.

When should you go?

High season runs May to September: sunny, warm, calm seas, and the best conditions for Padar’s viewpoint and Manta Point snorkeling — but also peak crowds and peak prices. Low season, October to April, brings more rain and rougher seas, yet lower prices and far fewer boats around the islands. A private charter softens the low-season trade-off, since you are never sharing a crowded deck regardless of month.

How does booking work?

Booking a Komodo Privé charter routes directly to the Komodo Luxury reservations team — no third-party middle layer.

  1. Tell us your dates, group size, and length. One day, or 2D1N / 3D2N overnight. This sets your group tier and vessel class.
  2. Get a tailored per-boat quote. We confirm the boat, inclusions, and the separate per-person park fees for your specific itinerary, so the cash you carry is planned in advance.
  3. Confirm the date and pay a deposit. Reservations checks live availability, holds your date, and processes the deposit.
  4. Fine-tune your route. Padar sunrise, Pink Beach, Taka Makassar sandbank, Manta Point, a Kalong Island sunset — we sequence it around tides and your pace.
  5. Sail private from Labuan Bajo. Meet your crew at the harbor; the boat is yours for the day or the overnight.
